She huffed as she let herself drop down onto one of the cushioned tops of the toadstools that was part of a connected ring around her tiny village, overlooking the great expanse of the forest the lay before her eyes, completely unexplored but for a small area in which her people foraged for food and other articles.
"Aila?" Called out a voice that had a slight wheeze to it. It was definitely one of the elders. No one else she knew sounded so... so ancient. "Aila, you better not have wandered from the village again you deplorable child!"
There it was, she knew who it was now. It could none other than old Celib. It honestly surprised her that he was still alive and kicking, the miserable old fart that he was. She had been planning on taking another expedition out into the vast woodland... after all, it was because of her that they'd found more places in which to find food and precious metals... but then she'd also brought meat-eating creature back with her before as they'd thought she would make for a nice little snack. Well, she'd answer him alright.
Standing up upon the fleshy top of the fungus, she looked out over the few haphazard wood lodgings that bordered on the edge of the village, finding him making his wheezing way among the pebble rock paths. "Oh, not yet I haven't, but I'll bet you can't make it here before I do!" Aila called back in a more mocking tone as a slight smirk lit upon her face. As she let herself slip down from the toadstool on the outer limit of the boundary set by the elders, she could hear him cursing to whatever deity he could think of. She would be in for it later of course, but that had never stopped her before.
Aila ignored him, making a quick beeline toward the massive trunks of the neighbouring oaks that had never failed to show her just how tiny and insignificant she really was compared to their majesty. With a bit of luck, she might come across another hidden trove of treasures for the taking.

Several landing ships roar over head. These bright yellow and grey ships are of a slender and sleek design. They land far away, deep in the forest. The roar of their engines can be heard for miles.

Aila paused at the sound that was so unfamiliar to her, wondering what manner of beast it might be and whether she might want to risk checking it out. The elders had often claimed that her curiosity would be the death of her one of these days, but she highly doubted that. Without so much as a glance back to her safe haven of a village, she began her journey toward the odd sounds, flitting from branch to branch like some sort of bird or bug so as not to tire herself too quickly.

The hatches on the ships open and Snake like creatures in uniforms and power armor begin to pour out. They begin to cut the trees down on the perimeter. Using the burn and slash technique they clear space for the tents and equipment they need.

Aila lit upon a nearby branch, confused as to what manner of creature these beings were as they were nothing she'd ever seen before and the great shining objects were just as curious to her. And while they were a new novelty for her, she couldn't help but be enraged that they were destroying a part of the forest, creating scars on the Great Mother that had birthed them.

They start setting up tents and bringing out generators. they bring out turreted weapons as well and start to establish a perimeter. They seem to be setting up a small military out post.

While she might not have been too sure of what these beings were or what they were doing there, she knew that it could be a possibly threat to the nearby clans. Aila wouldn't be able to do too much on her own without being caught out of course, so she decided it would be best to head back to warn the elders and see what they had to say. They'd definitely not be able to say she'd been rash this time. With that thought, she pressed off from the branch and turned to start heading back.

Aila gave a startled little yelp, catching herself before she fell and trying to shake off the dazed feeling that accompanied the collision.

The snake creature turns around to see what it hit.

Aila immediately turned tail to flee. This would not be good. She was but one small Wisp and they were quite larger than she. She was no magic user either and resorted merely to tricks. If she had remained unseen, it would not be as much as a problem but as it was she would be like a mouse caught in the gaze of a hawk.

The snake creature looks around but sees nothing. He goes back to clearing the trees.

Aila gave somewhat of a relieved look at having not been noticed, starting back to her village as quickly as she could.

After some time she makes it to her village.

Aila crossed back through the toadstool ring, heading straight for the home of one of the elders that tolerated her behaviour to a degree and wouldn't be so quick to disbelieve her. "Iya! Iya come quick!" She called out as she pushed through the crowd to the front step of the little wooden hut.
"Aila? What is it child?" Iya replied as she came to the doorway to see what the fuss was about.
"There are strange creatures deep in the woods. Things I've never seen the likes of before. I know not what they're doing there but they've been cutting down trees," Aila replied in a winded tone from her hurry.
Iya took on a stern look as she regarded the girl before her, "Aila child, you know well that you are not supposed to travel so far outside the village. What ever possessed you to travel so far as that?"
"I heard a strange noise and saw shining objects. I know not what they are. Will you not send some to investigate this to see if they are no harm to us?" Aila asked, exasperated that she was being scolded when she had such important news to share.
"It is indeed troublesome, but they are far from the village yet as you say. If they traverse any closer to our grove, then we will watch them, but for now its best to leave well enough alone. We don't need to needlessly draw them to our midst," Iya replied.
Aila puffed her cheeks out slightly as she huffed in annoyance. She thought that it was important and if no one else would watch them, then she would. After all, it shouldn't be too hard to keep out of sight and she was sure that they would come across the village at some point or another. Why wait until it was too late? Without so much as another word, she turned away from the elder and the group that had gathered around to listen in curiously. She'd make it her job to keep the village safe, as all the others seemed to be too cowardly to venture out so far, and she'd prove that it was indeed of importance.
