Aila kept watch on them as she started pushing the group in a direction with the thought of skirting a safe distance around the team.

One of the snake creatures passes in front of a bush. Suddenly something silver drops from above. She can not see what it was due to the bush.

Now this had her curiosity and as much as she would love to check it out, she know she would be disappointing Iya if she left the group just to see... unless of course she lied about it and none was the wiser... She brought the group to a halt, feigning a look of frustration, "Theres a band of them up ahead and I can't tell which way is safest to travel from here. I'd like to continue on ahead alone for a bit to map out a route and then come back. Iya-elder, could you take charge for just a little while to allow me to do so?"
Iya studied the child a moment before sighing, "Do as you must Aila, but hurry back. It will create unease to wait in one place so close to these beings for very long."
"I'll be quick," Aila said before making her way closer to see if she could find out what it was that was attacking these beings.

Before she can see what attacked the creature the silver object flies into the trees. The other two snake creatures panic and starts to run. When one of them passes behind a tree it comes down again killing it. Then quickly disappears into the air. The last snake stops in sheer terror.

Whatever it was, it was fairly quick. She barely had time to look before it was gone from her sight again. Surely, though, if it were killing these snake beings that had seemed so sinister, it could not be something horrible though, right? Unless of course it was much worse then they and she had reason to worry. She fixed her focus onto the last one remaining of the group, intent on seeing just what this mysterious silver object was.

The person drops from above and spears the snake through the head. It lands on the Snakes shoulders and takes it to the ground. The person seems to be wearing silver power armor that is of medium size. A helmet hides the eyes but the mouth is revealed. The skin is green around the blue lips of the humanoid. A long blue cloak comes off the back of the armor. Dragon wings adorn the helmet of the armor. The humanoid twists the spear killing the snake. It then looks directly at aila. It seems a bit surprised by her. It then leaps into the air at an incredible height. It clears the tree tops.

Yet more things that she'd never seen before! Her first thought was to wonder if the Great Mother had decided to craft more children to care for the lands she had so lovingly created to change to that of relief. If the being had meant harm, no doubt it would have attacked as soon as it had seen her. Her relief soon turned to disappointment. If it were killing these things they would they not be driven away from the forest and there had been no need to leave the shelter of the village? She had merely been given a taste for adventure only to have it snatched back before the day was through... yet she could keep what she had seen to herself and continue on, though if those in the group found out there may be a blood-feud between them and a risk of being branded as an exile to the village. So many decisions she could make but she was unsure of what to choose. She could picture Iya's disappointment with her now if her lie was found out upon and decided it would be best to tell them of what had transpired, no matter how much she was loathe to. It was with a sigh that she turned to trudge back to the group. Perhaps she would have to strike out from the village on her own then one of these days, like the travellers that visited upon them every so often with great stories about the lands they had seen and the creatures big and small.

The forest is silent. There do not appear to be any more patrols in the area.

Aila reluctantly relayed what she had seen transpire to the elders that had been conversing together and awaiting her return.
"Then there is no danger?" Iya asked.
"I can not be sure of course, but I think that this thing is routing them out. I knew nothing of this before we left," Aila said, the disappointment audible in her voice.
"Ah, but we will be thought fools for leaving in such a panic as we did when there was naught to be worried about," Iya sighed.
"Better a safe fool than a sorry one," Aila muttered in reply. There would not be stories of how she led her people to safety after all and she would be teased for her unfounded worries for years to come. Even with the sounds, most would probably think her a liar as they'd not seen what she had. It was with a bitter taste left that she turned the group around to start back.

Eventually after much walking they make it back.

The group dispersed to head back to their homes as the rest of the clan that had stayed behind watched their return curiously. Word would spread quickly of course, as it always did, but Aila had made up her mind. She would not be around for word to reach her and for the jokes and the teasing to begin. She would leave and set out to explore the vast unknown. After all, there was nothing to tie her her so securely. She would be somewhat reluctant to leave as she had grown here, but she had a long life ahead of her. After all, had not one of the elders lived to the old age of two-hundred and fifteen before they passed on and rejoined the Great Mother? She could find provisions for herself along the way and take shelter in the protective knots of the old trees when she needed sleep. She contemplated saying her goodbyes, but no doubt Iya at least would try to convince her to stay. No, it would be better if she took off without notice and they'd figure it out eventually. Iya would call this decision rash, but Aila saw it as nothing more than a great adventure. A tale waiting to be written. Perhaps someday she would return to tell them of the things she had seen. With only a small glance back to her home, she began off into the great expanse of the forest and the mysteries that await her.

Walking along she sees more and more dead bodies. There seem to be a countless number of these snake creatures in the woods.

Aila looked upon the many dead in awe, starting to wonder if this was some deity that had seen the plight and come to put and end to it and save them from whatever these snake beings had put to plan. There were so many of them that it was hard to imagine. There weren't even this many in the village. Because of their long life-span, only a few children were born every couple of decades or so to take the place of those that had grown old and passed back into the loving hands of the Great Mother. It was even thought that the children were those that had died brought back to life in the form of a new child. She could only wonder at where these beings had come from and if they had left because of over-population. Whatever the case, she would have to store away this event in her memory and recall the tale to those in the villages she might pass through. She brushed aside her thoughts and pressed onward, wanting to make a good distance before night fell and she would have to seek refuge from things that might consider her a delicious snack.

Eventually after awhile darkness starts to settle upon her.

Aila sought out a tree with a knothole in it in which she would be able to curl up and sleep, finding one after a bit and checking to make sure it was empty before holing herself up inside it. She was fatigued and her legs and feet were sore from the long travel. She would have to start switching up from flying for some part of the distances and then switch to walking to give her wings a rest. If she worked it out well enough she would not be as exhausted when night fell, nor, hopefully, as sore. She had taken some leaves and woven their stalks in a way to bind them securely to use as a make shift cover as she slept, though she knew it would not keep the chill of the night and early morning out. Hopefully it would provide her with at least enough warmth as she slept and enough disguise so that would not have a rude awakening by a bird or a tree rat.
