Anyone here have any idea how to make games using Flash, Game Maker, RPG Maker, etc? Is it easy? (doubt it) The way some idiots make em make it look easy. A lot of Flash Games tend to suck, but then you see one good one out of the bunch and you just wonder HOW'd they do it!
If anyone here has made a game, you can share it, or if you plan on trying, maybe we can help.

You need to know actionscript, which is a lot like java, but i'm too lazy to learn it. I'm pretty sure actionscript is simple, as long as you're used to the format of it all.

I've made some pretty shitty games in Flash. One of them was a very crude FPS game. The thing was, the enemies fired at the same rate, and appeared at the same spots each time, it wasn't random or anything. I got a health bar working and all that, but it was just really lame.

I used to have RPG Maker 2000. After half a year worth of experience, I attempted to remake the first Final Fantasy. I was nearly done with the database, but RPGMaker somehow got deleted. And now I have no clue as to how I'm going to find it again. Nor am I going to try. I already found ZQuest. I know a bunch of stuff for RPGm2k though, so if you needed help with that then state your problem.

Wow, Cutter, I didn't know you were a Flash person. A FPS is hard to make, you should be proud. Shouldn't you of started easier with a platformer or puzzler like everyone else?
Mage: I can't even work RPGMaker correctly! I feel so godamn stupid!

Kyle, it was easy. Just make some enemies as buttons, give them instance names, replace the mouse with a target icon, and animate the enemies going onscreen. It's not like you could turn around or choose when to go forward, just shoot anything that you see. Really basic stuff.
And I TRIED making a platformer. I failed. Miserably. Not even the NG forums could help me.
As for RPGMaker, I've screwed around with it. I was inspired by KWRPG, which looked cool until you downloaded RPGMaker and realized how many of the default animations and tools he used. Still, I can't figure out how to program events, or do cinematics right. It's hard enough to bring my own tilesets in. I can make them, I just didn't know how to access them for a while. I've given up on RPGM because it's too restricting and hard to use, and the finished product looks like shit anyway.

Still, I can't figure out how to program events, or do cinematics right. Whenever making a game using RPGMaker or a Editor supplied a computer game, those are the only things I can't do, damnit!

Events can be pretty easy once you get the hang of it. Just practice a lot. Just tell me whatever you were trying to do, I'll probably have an answer.

Okay...How about this:
Old man: I am an old man. *pressing a button triggers the event* Old man: You have triggered an event.
Something as basic as that is all I need to know how to do.

I did rpgmaker for ps1 and I made like half an intro to a game. It wasn't horrible, but it did match every steriotype of a rpg known to man.

RPGMaker was good. I sooo wish I could remember where I downloaded it. Oh well, I got ZQuest to cheer me up.

I don't know anything at all about the PS RPGMakers. I used the downloadable PC RPGM.
