there will be an entire empire of undead. One of the major races. All I know is that concerning the major races, I will go to town on Draken lore. The Draken race is probably one of my proudest accomplishments RP wise. If we do sci-fi fantasy, then needless to say that it will be interesting bringing the Blood-Hides and Grim-Wings to space.

Considering how massive a galaxy is, even if I use the immense map size of Galciv 2 I wont even have touch 1/50th of the size of the galaxy. Depending on how much you guys want to explore there will be more and more races and empires added later.

Wait... There's gonna be space exploration or some shit?
Not that it matters, just wondering.
I mean, the Project Gemini universe where I take all of my characters from is pretty much our world with technology about 35 years ahead of what we have now. It's not gonna stop me from using my characters, but what's the level of technology gonna be like in this roleplay?

So, yeah, whatever the poll ends up being, we should just do a fantasy sci-fi. It's not hard, a lot of sci-fi has fantasy elements. It's pretty much just a sci-fi universe with bits of paranormal to it that aren't always scientifically explained. Doing that gives us more freedom.
Zaku, in terms of lightening the load of work on your part, and getting people like me and new members willing to join, I say we take this route:
Don't plan the whole thing out first. Just give us some skeleton of a universe, and we'll (meaning mostly you, White Jet, and Gen) will give it the meat later. Just think of how the ZaRWoC RP originally was. All we were given was a Megaman universe, and we all shaped and formed the story, characters, empires, villains, powers (LE, DE, CE?) ourselves over time.
Just keep the universe really simple, and with roleplaying, it'll become more complex and fleshed out with user-input. And yes, I do want to actually roleplay this time.

Well the plan is similar to that. The core races and systems I.E. the hub of galactic economy are extensively planned out. But the frontier is your game. It's where you make the magic happen.

Well the real thing that is stopping me is the creating of the maps and the writing down of information. It's all just floating in my head.

I've been working on the map for the core systems. It's coming along well. Unfortunately I can not upload custom emblems to represent the races. So I have to use the Icons from GalCiv 2. And another problem is that this map is going to be huge.

Heres the bare bones map. Without any indicators or legends. I'll add those later. It was so Big I had to use a .JPG. 56K warning.

Are those gonna be divided up into sectors or systems or something?
A problem that passed through my mind was that with such a big, expansive universe with so many planets, it might be difficult to get our characters together. Characters on different planets, obviously, can't roleplay with one another, and if we all just start our characters on the same few planets, it's practically pointless to even have the many others.
On the other hand, this problem could be solved assuming all of us have multiple characters (atleast 2-3) and spread them out. Plus, having nomadic characters or characters who float around in starships for a living also helps with the freedom.

It also helps because I don't have set plans for 90% of the planets. I don't even have names for them. These are star Empires so they will have tons of planets in them. I seriously doubt we will use all of them for more than a single roleplay or so. I predict most of what is going to take place is either on starships or the planets capitals while the rest are up to you guys to fill in.

Seems good to me.
I'm assuming each race has its own planet or set of planets where that race is prominently from?

Every race has a homeworld. You can tell the homeworld by the few icons that seem to be twice as big. The humans are in a federation with three other races and share a government with them. Thats why there seems to be three singular homeworlds in that sea of blue. Those three are the homeworlds of the other races. I'm currently working on the map legend so that may help.

Heres an updated map. This has a crude numerical grid. As well as the Factions names next to the icons. *Edit* I uploaded the wrong map. The correct one should be displayed now.

After all that work..... After the extreme amount of effort that went into this map. I NOW noticed that missed assigning ONE planet. Damn it! >.<
*Edit* Upon further inspection I notice I missed 3 not one. Hells.
