While going through all my ideas for roleplay and putting together storylines and scenarios, I've come at an impasse. I'm not sure which to do for the site. A fantasy setting or a sci-fi setting. So I figured I'd ask the opinions of the masses.

When it comes to literature, I'm more of a sci-fi man myself. 'Tis a shame the glorious golden age of the sci-fi genre of novels ended years ago.

Just me and Kyle, it looks like.
I like to consider that my characters exist within a Sci-fi universe, since they don't do anything completely over the top like you see in Anime, and there are explanations for their powers. But either way they are kind of leaning on fantasy.

Well when I redo it it will be completely hand made. No references to other media. No characters based on other universes. It will entirely be a product of my imagination.

It's easier to stretch fantasy elements into a sci-fi universe than vice versa, so I'd just go with making an overall sci-fi universe.

Originality is fine with me. All of my characters are made up, anyway.
Maybe people who want to use other characters can have altered versions of them to exist within this new RP universe?

I'd rather not see characters from other universes in here. This is going to be wholly ours. Most people will probably end up using humans untill more knowledge is learned about the universe. As I will be adding to it. I.E. If I do do Sci-Fi I'll be making a map to go along with it. I'm going to use the map editor from Galactic Civilizations 2 to put it together. The more you guys explore the universe the more I'll reveal of the map.

What if I just kept their name and appearances, at least for Blazkrieg and EN, and disregard everything else that would associate them to the Ouendan characters I altered them from?

Truthfully, I don't fathom originality. One, because I'm lazy and would rather create original characters for use in fanfics. And two, I kinda liked how I altered the Ouendan characters to be more involved in fights than just be a bunch of cheerleaders staying in the background and cheering whoever calls for them (The same could be said for how I potrayed Rock, Clef and ProtoX, but I won't be using them in this forum anymore).

See i was shooting for using a smaller number of characters to portray a grander story. When everyone has 20 Characters it's extremely hard for me to keep track of everyone and character development is harder to achieve.

If we're starting from scratch, I wouldn't have to worry about starting with all members crammed together. I could just start with two or three from each squad and recruit the rest later on in the RP. Either that, or just stick with some of my most used characters and leave the rest out.
