So I got this game a while ago, since I'm a fan of Sting's works. I'm finding this game very enjoyable. It's very different from most RPGs. It's gameplay is a little lacking compared to most games, but it's characters, story progression, and atmosphere is some of the most unique I've ever scene in a game.
Reality is distorted, and you can't remember why. You can't remember anything, you've lost your voice, and you feel the burden of a sin you can't even recall. A man with large wings and crimson eyes gives you a gun, saying if you wish to heal your sin, you must go to the bottom of the Neuro Tower. Taking the gun, you go blindly into the tower relying on your beginner's instincts alone, and whatever items you can scavenge. The tower isn't that deep, but whether or not you succeed or die, you'll suddenly wake up in town again. You were actually in a simulation, but it was all training for what you must do, for the real tower is much deeper. There are various characters to interact with, like the Horned Girl who says what you think, the foul-mouthed Coffin Man with training dungeons for practice, and more. When you go into the tower, you have nothing but the gun the man known as the Archangel gives you, forcing you to find items and use them to your advantage. However... if you die, you wake up back in town, reset all the way to level 1, with none of your items! There are ways to send items to town from within the tower however, so take advantage! Enough of my rambling, here are some points about this game...
Likely the only game where story is progressed through dieing.
Customize you and your equipment using brands, and parasites. Fuse parasites for maximum effects.
You have HP and VT. HP recovers, but VT drains. If VT drains completely, your HP will decrease. You can only recieve VT from killing enemies, or using items.
Using recovery items when your HP/VT/ATK/whatever is full will raise it's MAX stat. Consuming rotten goods will give you a Stomachache, lowering your ATK and DEF. It's not much, but it can stack and Stomachache is the hardest ailment to get rid of, so careful what you eat.
Any item can be thrown as a projectile weapon, but if it'll give the effect to the enemy it hits! Some items inflict Poison on the consumer, while some make you temporarily invincible.
Some items must be identified by either using them on yourself or the enemies, or using an appraisal item. Like I said, some items are good, some are bad. Take your chances, and hope it doesn't.... blow up in your face. (quite literally at times)
Each floor is randomly generated, which keeps things a little more fresh. You'll meet NPCs along the way as well, and you can learn things from them.
Does anyone else have this game, or is it just me?
