I'm talking about Super Paper Mario here, but I made it for the whole series to keep this area from cluttering up with up to three off-topic paper mario threads.
Anyways, I just got Super Paper Mario for my birthday, and it's a pretty good game. The story's... so-so, but these little monologues between chapters is making me think it'll get better with time. Put simply, Peach gets kidnapped by a dude known as Count Bleck, and just as Mario and Luigi are ready to kick Bowser's ass for her dissapearance, Count Bleck comes and kidnaps everyone in the castle but Mario. A Pixl known as Tippi takes Mario to another dimmension called Flipside, so Merlin can explain the details to Mario about Bowser and Peach's wedding releasing the Chaos Heart, opening a dark void that will consume all dimensions.(kinda like Kingdom Hearts) Mario has to find all eight Pure Hearts in different dimmensions to beat Count Bleck or something. Along the way, Peach and Bowser join the party along with the many Pixls.
Gameplay. Pretty standard. You hold the Wiimote sideways like you do when playing VC games. 2 is jump, and 1 is to use your Pixl's ability. You have jumping, Pixls, and items to your dissposal when fighting. The Pixls are handy at any time. Whether it's grabbing enemies, bombing, or turning to the side(carried over from TYD), these little dudes are pretty cool when you need them. And despite what you may think, items ARE useful! There are a couple enemies that just too annoying to deal with(like those cloning enemies) so you'd just want to use a Fire Burst or something. They're also very useful against bosses, where HP just shows up as ??. Just to keep the Action Commands is place, most non-healing items use an Action Command.(Even if they are mostly the same thing. *wags wiimote repeatedly*) Many items are kept, but without FP, many effects are changed.(Koopa Leaves temporarily increase defense.) You'll also find plenty of powerups in blocks. Lie the Happy Flower which makes coins rain from the sky, and the Speed or Slow Flower, which affects time, but triples the amount of points you get from enemies, but my favorite is the zombie shroom. I dunno what it does(never wanted to find out), but the first time you see it you get a message saying "IT'S A ZOMBIE SHROOM! RUN FOR YOUR LIVES!" There's just something about Mario running away from a decrepit old mushroom smacking its jaws repeatedly that's amusing. Now let me move on to party members. In my opinion, Mario isn't quite as good as everyone else. The ONLY thing he's got that everyone else doesn't is the Flip-Technique. Meanwhile, Peach can jump much farther and defend(negating all damage), and Bowser can attack enemies indirectly with fire.(Useful underwater where you can't jump on enemies.) They can also use the Pixls which is what much of the later parts of the game focus on. I beleive that's enought o cover in one post. Does anyone else have this game?
