I have a problem with not knowing where to stop... So I'm asking you guys. Does this look good enough? The only thing I would add is to give him a little spring in his step, but if I choose to do that, I have to probably change every frame, to the point of me basically redoing the whole thing(I didn't keep the leg size the same all the way through that's the problem... -.- HORRIBLE!! Just to tell you, that my participation in the collab is riding on this animation, and the framerate is a wee bit screwed up for some reason.

It looks fine to me. Although, the "head" movement is a bit spasmic. Maybe make it less dramatic.

Yeah, the stuff on the back of his head springs up too much, while the rest of his head, and his body, stay completely still.

Okay, I guess it only works if he is actually moving up and down. But it might just be the frame rate.

EWWWWW!!!!
no spasmic movement. My friend, the art connoseur says he's still humanlike, and usually, I take his advice immediately, but considering that you guys are exploitable at the moment, I'll ask you if you all think that this Sonic is too humanlike proportions-wise.

He looks alright to me.
But just to give some constructive criticism, his body and head should move a bit with his steps, and his arms seem to keep coming from different places on his shoulders.

There seems to be some slowdown on his right arm as its coming forward.

About the human-like Sonic, I would agree. He's a wee bit too human like, and doesn't look like a SA1, SA2,or SH Sonic. Usually his shoes are alittle bigger in proportion to the legs, and the body should be a wee bit smaller.

Meh. It looks fine. If your part of the collab will be relying on that lone animation...Then maybe you should make it a little...Uh....I don't know.

Well, "Meh" isn't gonna help if the guy says it's not good. The guy's right, it's a little bit too humanlike. I'm not trying to change your art style Nam, just some advice. If you're making comics with a scheduled update, then be my guest and draw what you want, as long as it comes out looking like Sonic. Cause when you're making comics, you have to make a lot of Sonics, in a timely fashion. But if you are doing a piece of art, you need to put a lot of work into it. Especially making sure that the style fits and that it is proportional. Keep in mind, Sonic is a cartoon/ video game characters. He's drawn cartoony. www.sonicstadium.org/games/sadx/artwork/001.gifSee how the body is a small circle, not a big oval? And the shoes are pretty big. www.sonicstadium.org/games/rush/artwork/Promotional/01.jpgLook at Sonic in that picture. Once again, the legs are bigger (length) than the body. The body consists of a small, circular/triangler shape. Also, make sure the legs are not wavy and what not (I know that is a simple framework mistake.) and make sure the legs aren't too thick. Draw it how it makes you feel comfortable, but remember. This is Sonic, not someone in a Sonic Costume walking around. Now, how to combine that into the flash: My most of concern is with the lower body and below area. Like I mentioned above, the shoes need to be a bit bigger, and the leg animation needs work. Sonic's not a robot, like all mammals, his leg is attached to his body. Which means, when he moves his leg, his body should move a bit too. This is very hard to put into an animation, but you'll have to try. I actually see where you were going with the first one (with the jagged head bobbing) cause all of the body moves if you are walking casually, not like a robot. His head and body should move A BIT. The thing that you were doing with the first one with the head was good, but the animation had a cutting, jagged feeling. Make it smooth.

Also, you might wanna make the spiky things wave as he walks. That can either be done frame by frame, or with a shape tween if you're lucky. Flash seems to hate shape tweens.

Nam, think Hello Kitty when you are making Sonic.

Gen, that has to be the least helpful comment anyone has ever made, and thats including the people who just dodged my questions when I asked to help me improve.

It can be helpful.
Think Hello Kitty's design:
Big head, little body.
That is what you reall should be aiming for when you are designing Sonic.

Gen...that actually made sense....
And that actually is pretty good advice for drawing Sonic. Are you improvising your posts? Making everyone all us as you go?
