In morrowind Vampirism can be cured in the early stages only. But becoming a werewolf was awesome.

You could be a werewolf? I don't know about that in Oblivion, but vampirism took affect after three days, and its effects took place immediately. The disease would progress over four days, and you need to do a long and annoying side-quest to get the cure. You could cure it any time after contracting the disease.

You could only be a werewolf if you have the bloodmoon expansion.

Oh, what were the pros and cons of being a werewolf?

Pro- Nighttime enhanced speed, armor and attack. A major jump boost. I could jump to the top of one of the Vivec buildings.
Cons- If anyone sees you transform guards will hunt you down. Can't equip weapons or armor of any kind while transformed.

Damn... In Oblivion, I had vampire hunters on my tail for a bit when someone saw me feeding.
