Creating a mario RP does not take that much thought.

Oh really? And I suppose you would do a good job in making a storyline fit for a Mario RP?

Easily. The princess is kidnapped. There is your basis. And don't argue with it. Nintendo has recycled that formula so many times.

Yes, but to make a storyline good, you must add some background info to it, as Nintendo has done in their later games.

For the project me and Christi are doing I have to create an entire universe. So many things are being done from scratch. So no Mage you are not doing anything creative with this.

Trust me Mage. Your using established characters and ideas and making stories out of them. I am trying to be completely original.

I admit defeat there, as I haven't made anything too original as of late.

Try it sometime. It's rather rewarding.

I want to know what their train of thought was when they created this. Mario came from the game Donkey Kong, obviously. At the time, the character was called "Jumpman", and thus did not have a M on his head, nor was there any 'Mushroom people' ideas planned at the time. Even going further back, interviews have shown that not only was the game Donkey Kong inspired by King Kong, but the game was supposedly supposed to be a Popeye game, with Popeye was the main character. The owners of the character did not give permission to make a game for him, thus they went with Mario. If they had gone with Popeye, there would've been no Jumpman. No Jumpman means no Mario, no princess, no mushrooms, no turtles, etc.

Mario was just a replacement. I knew that already. But thats not what I meant. I'm talking about the concept of the mario games.

They are all stupid. There, in plain english. Mario is stpid.
He is pretty much a fat, Itallian knight. Except without the bad-ass armor and weapons. The only thing Mario has is his obesity, and a degree from a community college.

Just like most Italians.

Stupid as in plot/concept, or stupid all together? Cause some of the Mario games have good gameplay. Notice I said some. And some means none of the recent ones. Super Mario 64 was the last good one, but the earliest Mario games were good as well, in my opinion.
Not like my opinion really matters in this case. I'm a Nintendo fanboy, thus proving my opinion to be biased.

Mario Hoops 3 on 3 is proof enough that he sucks really hard.
